Our Obedience

Our Obedience

The test is exhibited in our obedience. Indeed, it is not our works that save us, but they point to the one we serve. Whereas we cannot serve two masters. Jesus tells us we will love the one and despise the other. If we love our King, we will keep His commandments. When we have no regard for God, we do not respect His law. If we truly love Hime, we will strive to obey Him.

Let us never forget, holiness is what God calls believers too. They are to be set apart and He demands our obedience. To be anything else means there can be no true religion where believers are not obedient. It is not enough to know His will, our obedience is expected.

God blesses believers through obedience. He is calling us to a better place. Therefore, if we are disobedient we will never come to that better place he has prepared for us. Our obedience takes us to a place of closer fellowship with him. Certainly there is no better place than being in close fellowship with Him.

Wicked men obey from fear; good men, from love. –Augustine

1 John 2:4

He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
