Go and Sin No More

“Go and Sin No More” sounds like an impossible command. And it would be impossible if we were forced to accomplish this in our strength. Like Peter walking on water, we will undoubtedly sink if we take our eyes off of Jesus and start focusing on our surroundings.
His command, “Go and sin no more.” is daunting when we first hear his words. However, Jesus only asks that we take one step at a time, walking towards Him. By not thinking about tomorrow, and focusing on Him, we can avoid the temptations that unquestionably come our way. The waves of tempting attractions, like the waves Peter walked on, quickly defeat us, and we fall into sin.
Therefore, focus on the King, walk in His light, carefully stepping without any thought as to what lies behind. If you are stumbling, immediately confess your sin to Him. He is faithful and forgiving, He will strengthen your footing and encourage you to take another step.
Either sin is with you, lying on your shoulders, or it is lying on Christ, the Lamb of God. Now if it is lying on your back, you are lost; but if it is resting on Christ, you are free, and you will be saved. Now choose what you want. –Martin Luther
Prayer: Lord, doing difficult things can be scary. Thank you for being my strength, my rock, and my encouragement. Thank you for your saving grace.
John 8:11 (NKJV)
