NU Announces the Alumnus of the Year 2019

NationsUniversity is pleased to announce the Alumnus of the Year for 2019. Dedication and hard work exemplify NationsUniversity alumni. Completing a degree online is difficult. It becomes more complicated when the courses are in a second language, and having a good Internet connection is not readily available. The Alumnus of the Year awards the student who excelled in their recent studies and the accomplishments nearing or soon after graduation. The student who not only overcomes many difficulties in earning a degree but applies what is learned in order to expand God’s Kingdom.
Stephen enrolled in NationsU in September 2013. Since then, he has earned the Certificate in Religious Studies, Bachelor of Religious Studies, Master of Theological Studies, and Master of Divinity. He has served in the Kenya Defence Forces as a Computer Technician in the Military Police for almost fifteen years. This has led him to serve on peacekeeping missions in Sudan.
He has developed a ministry called Give a Smile Today. This organization ministers every Saturday at several churches to children aged 5-15 years old. www.giveasmiletoday.org
Another program he started is the Soldiers Outreach Program. Currently, they distribute Bibles and focus on the spiritual care of those serving in the military. The bigger vision is to have a spiritual care center for soldiers suffering post-traumatic stress disorders, inner struggles related to service, and an avenue for evangelism.
Stephen has also volunteered with Manna Bible Institute and Global Media Outreach. Congratulations, Stephen, on all your accomplishments.
-Boys and Girls for Christ Program – Mentoring and reaching to children in the ages of 5-15 years, and this happens every Saturday afternoon with partner churches.
-Soldiers Outreach Program – As a soldier in the Kenya Defense Forces, I started a ‘Bible Project’ for spiritual care, by distributing Camouflaged Bibles and Military Edition Booklets to Kenyan soldiers going for operations. The Naval, Military and Air force Bible Society (UK) agreed to partner in this. The bigger vision is also to have a ‘Spiritual Care Centre’ for soldiers suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorders, inner struggles, and provide an avenue for evangelism in Somalia through the Bible project (www.soldiersoutreach.org).
Since graduating from NU, Stephen is engaged in online missions with Global Media Outreach as a volunteer.
Finally, Stephen tells us, “The list is endless of opportunities and platforms that my Education from NU has provided. I am grateful to God for bringing NationsUniverity into my life where I was prepared for ministry. I received wholesome education for both ministry and life.”
