Reflections – People Important to You

Reflections – People Important to You

People important to you cross your life, touch it with love and carelessness, and then move on. Other people leave you, and you breathe a sigh of relief. You wonder why you ever came in contact with them. There are people who leave you, and you breathe a sigh of remorse and wonder why they had to go away and leave such a gaping hole.

Children leave parents; friends leave friends; acquaintances move on. People change homes. People grow apart. Enemies hate and move on. Friends love and move on. You can think of the many who have moved through your hazy memory. You look at those present – and wonder.

God seems to have a master plan for lives. He moves people in and out of each other’s lives, and each leaves his mark on the other. You find that you are made up of bits and pieces of all who ever touched your life, and you are more because of them. You would be less if they had not touched you.

I am reminded of a recent song by Joan Baez titled “The Things We Are Made Of.” Perhaps the one constant is that God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit are always present and never change. And I am thankful for that unchanging reality!

Pray God that you can accept the bits and pieces in humility and wonder, and never question and never forget.

Blessings and peace,
