Weekly Reflection – Prayer of Meditation
Prayer of Meditation: Jeff Johnson is a talented Christian recording artist. I have been taken by the lyrics of one of his pieces. It plays on my iPhone each morning as I am preparing for the coming day. May it bless you this week as it has me. Have a blessed start to your New Year.
Blessings and peace,

May the light of God illumine the heart of my soul.
May the flame of Christ kindle me to love.
May the fire of the spirit free me to live this day, tonight and forever.
Thanks be to you, O God, that I have risen this day, to the rising of this life itself.
May it be a day of blessing, O God, of every gift, a day of new beginnings given.
Help me to avoid every sin and the source of every sin.
And as the mist scatters from the crest of the hills, may each haze clear from my soul.
I watch this morning. for the light that the darkness has not overcome.
I watch for the fire that was in the beginning and burns still in the brilliance of a rising sun.
I watch for the glow of life that gleams from the glowing earth and glistens in sea and sky.
I watch for your light Oh God in the eyes of every living creature and in the ever-living flame of my own soul.
If the grace of seeing were mine, this day I would glimpse you in all that lives.
Grant me the grace of seeing this day.
Grant me the grace of seeing!
O God of life, of all life, of each life,
I offer you my prayers in the love of Christ and affection of Christ and the company of Christ.
As your own household desires in heaven. so do I desire in this morning.
The love and affection of the ancients,
The love and affection of the saints,
The love and affection of heaven to lead me, to cherish me, to sustain me.
O loving Christ who died upon the tree
Each day and each night I remember your love.
And in my lying down and in my rising up,
in life and in death you are my help and my peace.
Each day and each night I remember your forgiveness, bestowed on me so gently and jealously.
Each day and each night may I be fuller in love with you
A shade are you in the heat, Oh God, a shelter in the cold, eyes are you to the blind, Oh God.
A staff are you to the weak.
An island are you at sea O God.
A rock are you on land.
Oh the healer of my soul, keep me healing, keep me in the morning.
Keep me at noon; I am tiny, astray and stumbling.
Shield me from sin.
Oh healer of my soul, shield me from sin.
I will lie down this night with God and God will lie down with me
I will lie down this night with Christ and Christ will down with me
I will lie down this night with the Spirit and the Spirit will lie down with me.
The three of my love will be lying down with me.
I shall not lie down with sin;
nor shall sin or the shadow of sin lie down with me.
Grant us your peace Oh lord.
Grant us your peace, Oh Lord .
May it fill all of our days.
Grant us your peace Oh Lord.
Grant us your peace Oh Lord.
May it fill all of our days.
Grant us your peace O Lord.
Grant us your peace O Lord.
May it fill all of our days.
May it fill all of me.
I will lie down this night with God
And God will lie down with me
Amen
